SPEAKERS
Jean Jacques Nya Ngatchou, MD, is a board-certified endocrinologist whose professional focus sits at the intersection of clinical medicine, human factors, and applied artificial intelligence. He studies how day-to-day clinical work breaks down in modern practice, particularly across inbox volume, test result follow-up, refills, prior authorization burden, and documentation overhead. His approach is workflow-first: treat the EHR as a system of action rather than a system of record. In his teaching and applied work, he emphasizes reliability engineering for clinical operations, including clear escalation rules, evidence grounding, audit trails, privacy boundaries, and human sign-off for high-risk decisions. He aims to help clinicians adopt AI in a way that is clinically conservative, operationally effective, and defensible from a safety and medico-legal standpoint.
"AI in Clinical Practice: What Works, What Breaks, How to Stay Safe". AI is evolving rapidly, and clinicians are rightly concerned about safety, liability, privacy, and trust. This session will aim to provide a practical, cross-specialty framework for using AI responsibly in day-to-day clinical work. Through live demonstrations using fictional cases, it will show how AI can convert clinical signals (such as inbox messages, critical results, and prior authorization packets) into structured next steps. Common failure modes including hallucination, omission, and unsafe confidence will also be tested. Participants will leave with a concrete safety checklist and a stepwise adoption ladder they can apply immediately in their own practice, without compromising clinical judgment or patient safety.
Dr. Chesie Voma-Awu is a clinical laboratory director and founder of Lab2Doctors. In both roles she transforms complex laboratory diagnostics into clarity for clinicians, caregivers, and families. With expertise in preanalytical excellence and the impact of preanalytical errors in generating erroneous lab results, she is committed to elevating diagnostic integrity and expanding equitable access to care. A passionate educator and mentor, she uses her voice and vision to inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders through her brown-skin mentoring program and to ensure every patient’s story is guided by accurate, compassionate science.
"From Insight to Impact: Bridging the Lab-Clinic Gap for Safer Care" Every diagnostic result carries more than data, it carries a patient's story. This session will explore how a deeper understanding of that story, grounded in both rigorous science and genuine compassion, can elevate the quality and equity of care we deliver. Attendees will examine the critical role of collaboration between clinicians and the laboratory, and how strengthening that partnership leads to more informed, consistent decision-making. The session will also highlight how targeted improvements in preanalytical processes and result interpretation, often small in scale, can prevent the kind of errors that change lives. Communication sits at the heart of this work. When results are conveyed with clarity and care, patient trust deepens and clinical confidence grows. Ultimately, this talk challenges us to hold both the science and the humanity of diagnostics together — because when we do, we don't just report results. We transform outcomes.

Her career is anchored in three intersecting areas: translational and clinical research in HIV and emerging infections, science communication and medical education, and global health equity. Dr. Titanji is also deeply engaged in public-facing science communication, using digital platforms to counter health misinformation, explain complex scientific evidence, and promote informed decision-making among clinicians, policymakers, and the public. Her research, communication, and advocacy are tightly integrated, with a focus on advancing pandemic preparedness, protecting public trust in science, and promoting equity and justice in global health.
